Mom is the Hardest Job in the World

I’ve been parenting and “Momming” for almost 40 years…YES, can you believe that?! AND I still have 2 teens at home.  Whoosh…

In 40 years a lot has changed in the parenting realm…except me.  HA!  As a matter of fact I have the same old fashion boundaries I had when my big kids were growing up.   Much to my younger kids dismay!

Except…

One of my older daughters, mentioned that when THEY were younger, they were not allowed to where skinny jeans…LOLOLOL Hmmm.  Pick your battles, right?!

I am convinced with all my heart after so many years, that being Mom is the hardest job in the world!  Life can be hard, but for Moms…even harder.  You see we have those heartstrings that are directly attached to our children that are almost impossible to break.  Even when our kids grow up.

Recently one of my daughters has been struggling to figure out some things that are going on with my grandson.  My heart breaks for her as her frustration and self doubt as a parent wane. 

I want to fix her and yet I know, struggling is good and healthy.  It allows our children big and small to grow. 

But I don’t like it…my heart hurts for her.

One of my teens has been going through so many personal struggles this year….I want to fix her…my heart hurts…she’s strong willed.

My other teen had a death threat scare this year…umm yes, in our small town. 

Oooh how I wanted to hold her close and keep her safe…it was hard.  She learned that God would protect her..

But I didn’t like it.

Maybe you have kids that struggle with physical health, emotional health, wrong choices…whatever the issue I’m here to confirm your deepest suspicions…

Being a Mom is the hardest job in the world!

Oooh of course there are MANY blessings too…but sometimes the hard things can feel like they are swallowing us up. 

One of the things that gives me peace (besides God Himself of course) is having peaceful and calm surroundings.  A special place to retreat and just rest.  Moms NEED this…or we could explode!
