So this is my busy Moms honest guide to weight loss and weight management! What I finally did and how to rock a food journal and be honest with yourself …myself. We all know why busy Moms tend to get over weight…we are too busy taking care of everyone else and not ourselves!
Weight loss and weight management takes time…of which we busy Moms have very little of. I try super hard to take good care of myself and one of the other things I do is to keep a Self Care Basket that I rotate goodies in that are just for pampering me!
Over the years I have only really had 2 occasions when I was truly overweight. One was after I had my 3 children in my late 30’s and early 40’s. I lost 30 lbs back then with weight watchers on my own.
The other… NOW! I became a bit sedentary while watching my grandkids and becoming a Blogger and whoop..added about 35 unhealthy pounds over the last 6 years!
What a discouragement is has been! It is so hard to make changes and really lose weight. I didn’t fit my clothing anymore and my size kept skyrocketing. (for me anyway… I was outgrowing a size 16, that’s very large for me) Anyone that has lost weight, knows…it is HARD work!!
It’s been quite a while since I had done weight watchers and didn’t really want to learn new systems again (I actually did it on my own)..although I think that it is a wonderful option for many.

Here’s the Best Way and How to Rock that FOOD JOURNAL!
Wait before you roll your eyes and think you don’t have the time – find out why this one thing can help you. I’ll tell you how it helped me too! And I’VE LOST 30 POUNDS! Still have 6 more pounds to go and they are killer to give up but I’m going to keep going until I reach my goal weight!
You’ll be able to shed the fat faster too. Those unwanted pounds that you just can’t seem to lose no matter what.
Having a food journal keeps you honest with yourself. I know it’s easier to be in denial, but truth is… you’re not going to lose weight this way.
First – It will help you Exhibit More Self Control and Eat Less
A journal keeps track of what you’ve eaten. This helps in the middle of the day when you realize you haven’t eaten all day. Usually then you’ll eat a meal and add WAY more calories because you are now starving. But since you’ve been journaling you know this pattern and eat a breakfast in the morning. So, you don’t add those unwanted foods and calories.
Start the day out right…time with God and breakfast! Record that first thing to get you started on the right foot each day!
“In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” Psalm 5:3
Second – Be Accountable and Honest with Yourself and God
Being accountable for what you eat, will help motivate you to eat healthier. By the way…it’s no secret to God. Instead of hiding from Him…seek Him and He will help you to eat healthy…we need help!
Knowing you have to write down the calories, protein, fat for a cupcake or a soda is enough deterrent to not eat or drink those two options. You will and choose healthier options and eat less unhealthy foods because you know you’ll have to record it later.
Along with your food journal her is a quick printable for keeping track of water intake, exercise etc. It’s not to replace a journal but it’s a quick start up!

Third – A Food Journal Records Vital Information About YOU
With a food journal you don’t just record calories. Sometimes it’s helpful to record other information like the time you ate, why you ate, how hungry you were feeling and what your reactions to that food were afterwards.
You’ll learn if you eat more during certain times of the day. Or maybe you eat because you are watching TV. Being aware of when you eat and what you eat, like if you are actually hungry while you are eating, will help you change your eating habits and behavior.
Fourth ~ You can record all of the things you are doing RIGHT!
Recording how you feel after each meal is a great motivator. If you record that you had a huge energy boost after you eat an apple or protein shake you’ll be more encourage eating more of those foods.
Whereas if you eat a bag of chips and don’t feel like doing anything after or are irritable you are more likely to avoid junk food. Being aware of your reactions is half of the battle.
Busy moms gain weight for a variety of reason – we overeat from stress, we don’t eat in the morning and then eat too many calories when we DO grab a bite. You don’t notice how much you eat during unplanned meals and snacks.
With a food journal you’ll be able to manage or eliminate all of these challenges. In fact recording all of this information will help you lose those unwanted pounds by figuring out how many calories you are eating in a day and where they are coming from. A food journal is DEFINITELY your secret weapon if you are having problems shedding that extra weight.
If you struggle regularly with weight loss its a great idea to work with a Dr. or go to Weight Watchers…etc. I’m just a mom and these are things that have worked for me over the years.
