Tools you’ll need to Make Ground Chicken Breast:
The great news is that you don’t need a Meat Grinder! However, you’ll need something to grind your chicken in. I use a Ninja Food Processor/Blender but you can use any kind of blender. Really you can! Follow thawing instructions closely though!
How to Make Ground Chicken
I have used a simple blender before to ground chicken breast and it worked just fine. However, I LOVE using my Ninja for SO many things. It’s worth the small investment to make your life easier!
BEST Tips for making and cooking minced chicken:
- The easiest way for how to ground chicken breast is to use semi frozen chicken. The reason this works best is it’s not quite as messy because fresh chicken can quickly become mush in a food processor before you know it.
- Therefore, I highly suggest semi frozen chicken for easier handling rather than fresh. (you can however use fresh chicken breast if you don’t have frozen, just keep an eye on it when processing).
- Ground Chicken has very little fat content! So it can dry out if cooked to long. Ground Beef has lots of fat content so it doesn’t dry out. Just remember this when making your recipes.

How to Ground Chicken Breast!
Ingredients:
- Frozen Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts ~ use 1 frozen chicken breast per person. 1/2 chicken breast for kids. When you make Homemade Ground Chicken it goes a long ways!
Directions:
Grab your frozen skinless Chicken Breasts. any size and as much as you want to grind.
Put chicken breasts on a microwavable plate in a single layer and unthaw enough to be able to cut into pieces. Your sharp knife should be able to slice through fairly easy. If you end up thawing the chicken all the way…IT’S OK!
Using a sharp knife or kitchen scissors, cut chicken breasts up into pieces/chunks that will fit into your blender.
Here is a picture of how much just one frozen chicken breast will look in your blender or food processor. It makes way more cut up and ground, than when the chicken breast is whole.
IMPORTANT: Then you’ll want to pulse the blender (meaning turn on and off) about every 5 seconds or so. Blend to the texture you would like it to be.
I suggest stopping and removing the lid and checking it after 2 rounds of pulsing. 1 round of pulsing if it’s getting close to the texture you want.
Today I’m making Homemade Chicken Nuggets with Ground Chicken. I’ll have that posted SOON! You can grind your chicken to any texture that you would like. Super chunky or fine. Just check after a couple pulses.
Use Ground Minced Chicken the way you would use Ground Beef or Ground Turkey. Just remember the tips from above. Ground Chicken is a much drier meat.
