Blessings for Reading Through the Bible

Psalm 119:105 (NIV) – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

God’s Word illuminates our path and guides us through life’s challenges, providing clarity and direction in our journey

Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV) – “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”

Delighting in God’s Word and meditating on it leads to blessings, growth, and spiritual prosperity in our lives.

Joshua 1:8 (NIV) – “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Meditating on God’s Word and applying it to our lives results in prosperity and success in the eyes of God.

Psalm 119:11 (NIV) – “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Memorizing and internalizing God’s Word acts as a shield, helping us resist temptation and live according to God’s will.

As you read through your Bible you will be amazed at the blessings you will receive. You will find guidance to everyday living matters in your life. You’ll find your spiritual growth will explode and you’ll get wisdom and truth planted deep into your heart.

Distractions from Using the Bible Reading Plan

Let’s face it…life happens. Even if we are totally committed to reading through our bible, life just happens. Kids get sick, carpools, sports, relatives, ministry…you name it…life. Oh and exhaustion! I hope the following will encourage you and keep you reading your bible even if you don’t feel like it, even if you’re too tired, even if you feel confused!

The enemy of our soul does NOT want us to read our Bible.

He will do just about anything to distract you. It’s so important that we read our bible and spend time with God that Satan will create crisis, chaos…anything that will distract and exhaust us. So here are a few tactics to help you along your Bible Reading Journey:

You DON’T need to read through your bible perfectly.

Perfectionism can paralyze us and keep us from moving forward or getting back to a plan. If you get off schedule or have a super busy week. Simply start where you left off. It will be easy to find your spot since you will be marking your Complete 365-Day Chronological Bible Reading Plan each day.

Reading the Bible is hard sometimes

Let’s face it…some of the books in the Bible are difficult…for a couple of reasons. Sometimes some of the books in the BIble may be hard to understand. That is partly because they are a different time period and culture OR they may even be boring to you.

There are two things you can do…hop over to another chapter either in the New Testament or Old Testament and read a chapter there for a while. It really is ok. Just be sure and come back to where you left off.

Some names in the Bible are difficult

Some names are difficult to say the least…even pastors have a hard time saying them. LOL Don’t spend time figuring them out, unless of course, you want to! Just move on.

If it doesn’t look like you will make it through the Bible in a year…IT’S OK! JUST KEEP GOING.

Once you’ve read through the Bible…read it again! God’s word is living and active…sharper than a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12) We should never be done reading the Bible…it is life my friend!
