Happy Monday everyone! It’s day 3 of our journal learning journey to know Him more! I’m wondering how your journaling is going? Have you started? Are you stuck?  Do you love it, hate it?

There are seasons in our lives that for one reason or another…we can get stuck in perfectionism with our journaling journey.  It seems like we have a hard time moving forward.  Whether it’s the weight of problems, self loathing or a combination of many things.  Putting pencil to paper to pour out our hearts to God, seems next to impossible.

Sometimes we have head knowledge of Gods living word, but knowing how to carry out God’s plan for us in a practical manner is oh so hard!  We fall into perfectionism without even knowing it and become ashamed of who we are, how God made us, the mistakes we make…

Perfectionism is a silent killer when it comes to journaling because it masks itself in so many ways.

  • We procrastinate because just plain starting is SO overwhelming and we want to do it just right.
  • We make excuses for ourselves and our time.
  • We’re embarrassed about who we really are.
  • We have “other” things to “get right” in our lives…like housework!

The truth is, that journaling can be hard work.  Why? Because we bare our lives before God…the good, the bad and the ugly.  In order to do this, perfectionism can not exist along side baring our lives to God.

UNLESS we can pour out our heart of perfectionism to God.  Lay it before Him and ask Him to help us to be free from it.

Perfectionism means there are no problems. No issues with ourselves, with our families, with the world.  Does that even exist!? LOL Nope!

There is only One who is perfect.

Perfect love, perfect peace, perfect…perfect.

We need to see ourselves for who we really are.  Weak…do I mean we are weak willed ninnies? No that’s not what I mean.  I mean mistake makers, sinners, not perfect, ever changing, growing…well you get my drift.

What does God’s word say about our weakness?

My Power is Made perfect in weakness

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”  2 Corinthians 12:9

What wait?!  GOD’S POWER is made PERFECT IN WEAKNESS???

That’s right my friend! We don’t have to try to be perfect.  What we need to do is let down our guard, humble ourselves before God and simply be who we are.  Weak.

That’s what journaling is all about…laying ourselves bare before the Lord… Don’t let perfectionism be the silent killer of your journal journey.

Take one little step.

Write it out, cry it out, shout it out… “I’m weak and I’m glad because God YOUR power will be made PERFECT in me!”

That’s it for today…

Go write in that journal…don’t do it perfect, draw a picture, repeat and misspell words…

God doesn’t care…He knows you…and you are just right to Him.

That’s what it’s all about 2 know Him more!

Oh and feel free to print out the above scripture…all you need to do is right click and save to your computer, then print!

Blessings Friends!
