Identity Theft – It Really Happens!
This post brought to you by LifeLock Facebook. All opinions are 100% mine.
Have you ever thought about what might happen if your identity were stolen? I have! I do much of my business online and use technology so much, that it concerns me very much! I'd like to take a quick look at some of the things that hackers look for and what you can do to protect yourself.
Did you know:
- If you have only 6 Characters in your password and it does not include a symbol, it only takes .000224 seconds to hack your account by a pro hacker! YIKES
- If you have a password with 10 Characters and only one symbol, it takes up to 20 days for a pro hacker to break in!
Sometimes even takng these small but important measures are still just not good enough. I find it disturbing that 6.6% of victims are Smartphone users and 6.8% are Social Media users that click on applications..PLEASE do not do this. I can't tell you how many times a day that I get these applications and direct messages from my Social Media platforms, asking me to click on something…guess what..I did it ONCE..never again!
Some more alarming Stats, 8.2% of victims are Social Media users that have checked in using there Smartphone GPS. Personally I'm not interested in people knowing my exact location! Get this.. 10.1% victims are Linkedin users!
Now I am not trying to make you parinoid, but really we need to be on the alert when we are online. So How hack friendly is your password?
LifeLock was one of the first in the Identity Theft industry to offer proactive theft protection. They have an excellent reputation with the BBB and have partnered with the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.
If I want my identity protected I want a company that has an excellent reputation and can keep up with all of the fast paced technology of today!

I sure wish these people would get a life and leave us alone. I never use the same password and since I’m in so many sites, I have to have a book to manage them all, and every so often I do change one again.
Don’t you though Donna! I really don’t get the thrill of the whole thing..
