Healthy Relationships
Do you have healthy relationships with other women? What does a healthy relationship look like to you? Well I’m no expert but I can tell you from my experience that I have learned the hard way what things to look for in a relationship and what things to avoid.
Building relationships with other women takes time. Here are some of the things to look for in a relationship:
- Trust, can I share my personal information with this person and will they keep it confidential. Sometimes only time will tell on this.
- Will this person accept me for who I am, or do they try to make me into someone they want me to be. Possibly suggesting different clothing, hairstyle etc.
- Do they laugh with me…or at me:(
- Do they listen and possibly make suggestions and leave the decision making between me and God. Then still love me even if I don’t take their suggestion.
- Will they pray with me
- Grace-Boy do we need grace!
These are things that can make a relationship difficult:
- People that try to control, either by manipulation or just plain put downs
- People that Gossip
- People that complain all the time
- Legalism
- People that give gifts for favors and then expect the same in return
I have to say that most women that I have met in the difficult category are usually hurting women. Sometimes God calls us to befriend these women too. Be open to what God wants you to do, but don’t be a martyr at your own expense.
*What kind of friend are you? Are you the kind of friend to others that you expect others to be to you?*
Strong positive relationships are essential to achieving our success. We are in almost constant contact with others and we should make every contact an opportunity to strengthen our social skills and reinforce our relationships. We can benefit a lots from healthy long-term relationship.
Hi James, Thanks for stopping by. Yes I agree, healthy relationships are essential to our own personal growth. I like your comment about healthy long term relationships. These are the people that know us best and help us grow the most.
Blessings to you 🙂
Much appreciated for the information and share!
Your welcome!
I can definitely relate to your post. I avoided friendships with females for most of my life. In fact, I didn’t make my first female friend until I was a senior in high school. I think that it may be because I always felt that girls were such troublemakers. They all behaved just like in “Mean Girls.” They fought over boys and created gossip.
This story does end happily because I found true friends who laughed with me and never tried to change me. They’ve supported me through hell and back. Relationships with all friends, women or not, need to be based on trust. I need to trust you will not divulge my secrets, that you’ll take my side by secretly tell me where I went wrong and stand by me.
Your post really got me thinking 🙂 Thanks for that!

Hi Laura!
I’m so glad you stopped by and I’m glad you were encouraged by my post. I’ve been thinking about it alot lately because we just changed churchs and I have been meeting new friends. I can see that some will become deep relationships and some not so:) I still have lots of wonderful friends and I’m so glad you do too!
One of my daughters is in 7th grade this year. We’ve addressed the “mean girls” subject on a couple of occasions:( Thankfully she hates drama….unless of course it’s her own..haha:)
Blessing to you!
Shari
