Awww time for a break before the whirlwind of kids come home from school. You know that little break that every Mom needs right?! Not long ago I would have my first cup of coffee and have my quiet time at 5:00 a.m. in the morning, but as I get busier blogging and with my new VA services, I need to get more done in the early, early morning… job wise.
I still have my coffee first thing in the morning of course…as a matter of fact I have a timer on my coffee maker so that when I get up the coffee is made! It’s like having the maid come over and make my coffee before I get out of bed! LOL I can dream can’t I!?
Honestly though, I can’t live without my quiet time with God, oh and my Caramel Latté. Being a Mom of 7 kids has taught me to be ready, not just to meet the physical needs of my family (cooking, running errands etc.) but also to be ready for the emotional side of parenting. If you have teens you know exactly what I am talking about. So in the after noon I take time out of whatever it is I’m up to, grab my coffee basket and make myself a special coffee drink.
Right now my daughter and I are struggling in our relationship. She’s 16 and at that age where she wants to be independent and doesn’t want to be mothered, not out loud anyway. I’ve found that if I am not ready and peaceful when she comes home from a hard day at school and sports, we are likely to get into a tiff about the stupidest things.
I can’t control her but I can control myself and handle things the way the Lord would have me to do. So everyday before she comes home I spend that time in God’s word and being renewed. It has been making a world of difference in our relationship and I’m reminded everyday that our family verse for many years has been Love Never Fails.
I’m going to share with you how you can make this deelish Caramel Latte for yourself so that you can enjoy during your quiet time! You don’t need an Espresso Machine for this easy recipe and I’m going to show you how you can make “steamed” milk without it!
Caramel Latte Recipe
- McCafé Drip Coffee
- 1 Tbsp. Caramel Sauce
- 3/4 cup 2 % or less Milk
Make your Coffee
Pour 1 Tbsp. into a fairly large Coffee Mug
Then pour in your Coffee, leave a little room for your steamed milk
Now let’s make that Steamed Milk ~ I used a Mason Jar but you could really use any type of microwaveable container with a lid
Pour in your milk ~ the less fat the better, but 2% works just fine.
Now put the lid on and shake until nice and foamy.
Now put into the microwave for about 30 seconds, this will stiffen and set the foam so that you can scoop it out. If you prefer you can pour all of the Milk into your coffee.
That’s it! You can drizzle on more Caramel if you really want to jazz it up…go ahead, do something special for yourself!
This really only takes minutes to make, which I love because I need to spend as much time as I can having quiet time and time is on short demand these days. I used McCafé Coffee which you can now buy at Wal-Mart in the Coffee section and ooh it is deelish with 100% Arabica Beans and 8 different flavors to choose from! Wal-Mart’s all over the nation are doing fun demos at each store so that you can test their McCafé Coffee so be sure and check
Moms, no matter what, you need to take that quiet time so that you have the patience to deal with those kids. We all know that it doesn’t matter what time of day you do it or where you do it…Just do it! I went outside with my cuppa because it was so beautiful out!
What is your favorite quiet time beverage?
Be blessed today!
