Blended Families Forever – Part 4
So why do I say Blended Families Forever. Because it’s true! If you have married and become a blended family, you can be sure that there will always be something that reminds you that you are a blended family. Even when the kids are grown, there are still weddings, grandkids and so on.
But the GREAT news is that you ARE A FAMILY!! I can assure you that if you hang in there, you will have a great future. With ALL of your children. The Blended Family is a very special family!
This weekend was a reminder that we are blended and yet we are a family. It was my grandson’s 2nd birthday. My daughter invited not only us, but her brothers, sisters, stepbrothers, stepsisters AND her Dad’s side of the family (Ugg!) My husband and I have learned to look to God and have chosen on many occasions to set our own icky feelings aside in order to continue to build up our children and grandchildren. We got through this gracefully and my daughter, who knew how hard it was for us, was so grateful that we set our own feelings aside for her son:)
After all, what is more important, the future or the past!
I didn’t say this was something easy, I just said that we have made some choices. And although these choices were hard, they have brought much joy. Our blended family enjoys many great times together, most all of these are times that have no strain. All of our children call each other brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles.

None of us would ever choose the heartaches and ups and downs of a blended family and yet I would not change the growth that it has forced me to have. God knows every inch of our hearts. He chose me to be the stepmom to my stepkids just as surely as he chose me to be the mom to my biological kids.
