Are You Speaking Your Child’s Love Language?

I am currently reading  “The Five Love Languages of Children”  If you have not heard of this book I highly recommend it! 

Have you ever had a relationship where you are just not connecting?  You are doing everything you know how to communicate and for some reason nothing is clicking with this other person.  This is especially frustrating if it is with one our children.  Aren’t we Moms suppose to intuitively know how to relate with our children? 

Of course we all know that each child is an individual AND what works with one child might not work with another…But if you would like a fresh look at building that deep love relationship with your child..this book is for you!  And for me!

The Five Love Languages has been around for a long time.  It is a book that is written by Gary Chapman was originally written for couples,  but has now been revised to meet the needs of children!   Children desperately need to know our deep love for them..but sometimes we just miss the mark.  Not on purpose,  but just for the lack of maybe not communicating our love in a way that a child can relate too.

The 5 Love Languages starts out with the foundation of LOVE of course..unconditional LOVE.   How children feel loved,  how they express love and how we communicate that love is covered in the first chapter,  along with how it looks at different stages of a child’s development is also key. 

As parents we undoubtedly communicate love in many different ways to our children..but I have truly found that each child,  each individual for that matter has a primary Love Language.

The 5 Love Languages are:

• Physical Touch
• Quality Time
• Words of Affirmation
• Gifts
• Acts of Service

I bet right off the bat you can figure out which child has what Love Language..but..

The book goes into detail as to how to discover and relate to your child’s primary Love Language.  At the end of the book,  there are questions for each chapter to help better understand each Love Language and different areas of how it might look when relating with your children at different ages.

This book is a fantastic read and will definitely help you to see the uniqueness of each child and how you can better relate to each one.

Also if you have not read the original  “The Five Love Languages”  book for couples..I highly recommend you do.  It’s amazing what it will do for your marriage when communicating in a way that your spouse can understand!
