Helping Our Teen Move Past a Failure
Sooner or later it’s bound to happen, failure. A wrong choice..We’ve been working on helping our teen move past a failure..it’s been hard.
From the time kids are very small they make lots of little fails along the way. We see it as totally innocent and part of the growing process don’t we? We explain to them their wrong doing, share with them a better way to do it better next time, tell them that God loves them anyway and so do we…then move on.

So where along the lines does the job get more complicated…harder? When are kids expected to make the right decisions and never to make a mistake? What do we say when they DO make a mistake…possibly one that could cost them a lot! A mistake that we could definitely call a failure!
It’s natural to expect that our children will grow and mature, hopefully as they grow they will make all the RIGHT decisions (because of course we’ve taught them too)…right!? What happens when they don’t?
Most of you know that we have 7 kids, so you would think that we know everything! LOL Umm NOT! What we do know is this… Kids will have failures, life lessons to learn. Some small, some big, some HUGE!
We recently had such an incident in our household. It’s been embarrassing, sad, shocking, heartbreaking, a relief and eye opening all at the same time!
It’s one that brought with it a BIG life lesson and yet at some point, you just have to learn from it and move on. As we have been working through this recent incident, the Lord has been right there alongside of us. Showing all of us just how we can be…
Romans 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
So I just thought that I would share the things that He has shown us through all of these emotions.
I hope they will help you too.
Since this ended up being such a long post I decided to make a Part 1 and Part 2
Hands on tomorrow…see you then!
Have a blessed day!
