Sometimes I am in such a hurry to get to my destination that I just get sooo frustrated at those RED lights!  One day long ago, I remember the Lord speaking directly to me regarding this.  It was at a time when God was teaching me some important lessons on patience and being thankful.  I was having to wait on something that I wanted RIGHT NOW!   Can you Relate?

One day I was in such a  hurry to get to my destination and of course I got caught at every Red light along the way.  I found myself thanking the Lord every time I had a Green light.  But when I would have a Red light I would get so frustrated.  Oh I didn’t blame God, but I certainly was not thankful.

I was sitting at one particular light and looking at my watch and fretting and the Lord spoke to my heart  “why don’t you thank me for the Red lights in your life?”  “You thank me for the Green ones,   but you never thank me for the Red ones.”

God was so right!  As long as things were going my way and I was getting what I wanted in life,  I was so very thankful.  But if things were not,  I would grumble and have an unthankful .

When God speaks to my I listen.  I don’t know about you but I don’t like learning the same lessons over and over again.  So whether I am sitting at a “Red Light” when I am in a total hurry or life circumstances say stop “Red Light”..I say to God  “thank you for this Red light today Lord”   It’s good to be thankful even in the small things.

I Thes. 5:18  “Be joyful always;  give thanks in all circumstances,

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

  1. I believe the Lord puts us where we’re supposed to be, when we are supposed to be there. So yes, have to be thankful for the Red lights—and I’m with you on the patience thing….still trying to be more so.

  4. That is beautiful and so true. When we lived in California I was always in a hurry and hated getting red lights all the time. Now that we moved to a small town in a different state I find myself rushing a lot less. I thank God every day for my blessings!

    1. Hi Cascia,
Thanks for stopping by! Well now I’m embarrassed, I’ve lived in a small town in the Pacific Northwest forever and God STILL had to teach me patience. LOL 🙂 I think I finally got it though…mostly 🙂

Patience has never been a virtue with me. In fact, I’m the most inpatient person I know. However, I will definately be looking at red lights differently from now on. Thanks for the heads-up. Blessings, Sandy
