Life Insurance – Do You Think it’s Necessary?
βThe Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.β
Most of you,Β that are my regular readers,Β know that my husband and I are..well..older πΒ What I mean is that we are on the older side of being parents.Β We have kids ranging from 11 years old clear up to 36.Β While most of our friends are going on cruises,Β my hubby and I are still going to sporting events and staying up late at night waiting for kids to get in from their activities on time,Β so that we can finally go to sleep and not worry about their safety.Β
I promise Iβm not complaining just stating a factβ¦
One of the issues that is really important to us is that we think ahead and have some kind of life insurance in case something were to happen to us.Β Since we have children still at home we want to make sure that our younger children are taken care of and that our older children are not left with the burden of taking care of any business that we may have..long after we are gone.Β I know to many parents life insurance can be quite overwhelmingβ¦who wants to think about it and who wants to pay for it..but in my opinion it is totally worth the small investment not to leave my children without us and without the financial means to take care of any expenses after we are gone.
Our heart is to bless our children and to leave a legacy of faith for them to followβ¦I am hoping that my blog,Β my journaling,Β my life will be a reflection of Christβs heart for them and that long after we are gone they will pass there own faith on to their own children.

How about you?Β Have you thought ahead..what kind of planning do you think is important.

I think it is important thats for sure!
Me too! π
We both have life insurance. It’s a relief to know it will be there to help pay off those large funeral expenses.
After recently losing both of our mothers, neither of which had any life insurance, wills, estate plans, etc., we can relate to how very important this issue is.
While this is a topic that people like to avoid, you can save your family a great deal of stress, heartache, energy, and time as they go through the grieving process by making some plans/decisions ahead of time.
My husband and I put together an estate plan when we had kids as a way to provide for them if anything would happen to us. Even though we need to update our plan….at least we have something in place!
Deb this is a fantastic testimony as to why we really need to have something in place … just in case. I too have had parents die..they had a small amount of life insurance and we weren’t left to deal with much .. but I have have seen many that have. Good for you to make plans for your children’s and yourselve’s future! Thanks for the great comment and stopping by! Blessings my friend!
Great article Shari though I have to admit none of my seven kids are insured including me or their dad. Our country still has a lot of learning to catch up as far as financial education is concerned. Most Filipinos are still not financially enlightened that much. It would be great to write a post on how you manage to get your insurance policies and what tips and challenges that you had when you were starting to set aside money for it.
Blessings!
Hi Sarah! Hope all is well with you and your beautiful family! Well the one thing I know for sure is this..whether we have life insurance or not..God has promised to take care of us! Right!? π Those are great ideas for a post too! I’ll have to pray about them! Blessings to you <3
On a personal note, how did you do your social icons? SUPER cute!!!
Thanks again,
Sheila
Hi Sheila! My social icons are from a wordpress plugin called Social Media Widget. It’s super easy to use and has several different kinds of icons you can use π Blessings!
I am self-employed and have 8 children between my husband and I. Life insurance is very important and I’ve made arrangements to have life insurance for myself, my children, and additional life insurance for my husband. One of my biggest fears is that my children will not be taken care of if something happens to me. Heaven forbid! My ex-husband will get my children, I know that and there is nothing I can do about it. But I can have money put away for therapy! And for their futures. Great article. Thanks for sharing!
Wow Sheila what a beautiful heart you have for your children! You are one good Mommy! I know what you mean about therapy..LOL I always say that I have a special savings just for my kids when they grow up and need therapy..so far 4 grown and haven’t had to use it! LOL Ummm I’m not sure if that’s good or bad! LOL Blessings to you and your beautiful family! π
