Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway!

Have you started hunting for your holiday gifts yet?  I’ve begun to think about it…soon my kids will be full swing into sports and my luxurious free weekends will amount to a few hours on Sunday,  usually spent on getting ready for the next week! LOL

So if I don’t start thinking ahead a little I’m going to be caught in a crunch at Christmas.  One of the things I really love about Kmart is that they have free layaway.   Layaway plans used to be more popular back when I was younger.  Many stores offered this,  but very few do anymore.  Only Kmart offers it’s customers many options and benefits for using their layaway plan.   If you are not familiar with layaway plans,  let me quickly explain.

• First you would go to Kmart and pick out an item you would like to purchase
• Take the item to the Service counter and sign up for the layaway program
• Make a small down payment on the item you are going to purchase
• Make payments every 2 weeks

That’s it!  I love it!  The reason I think that it is so cool to do Layaway is because,  let’s say you find something on sale and you want to purchase it, you need to save up for it but soon it will no longer be on sale.   Well just put it on layaway and you lock in the sale price..even after the item goes off sale!  I’ve had to walk away many times from purchases to wait for payday only to find items no longer on sale at other stores :(  There is no minimum item purchase either!   It also keeps away the credit card debt! 

Kmarts layaway program is great for large purchases too!  Right now our garage is sort of turning into a work out room/game room.  Which will be great because the colder weather is coming and outdoor activities will slow.  So I’ve got my eye on this cool ping pong table.  Which is something I can’t really afford today BUT I can put on layaway for Christmas!
