As many of you know I’m all about the freshest,  made from scratch meals and foods.  I do my very best to give my family the best and most nutritious foods possible to keep our bodies healthy and happy.  I have also spent YEARS researching how to do this in the most cost effective and least labor intensive way…want to know what I discovered…Frozen Foods Retain High Nutrition! AND…

I cannot be the perfect Mom and be the perfect cook all the time.  We have many, many seasons in our lives when we simply need to rely on a little help..not just from people..but from pre packed frozen foods.

We all know that fresh is BEST…but sometimes in our quest to labor over the most raw and naturally prepared foods…we miss the blessing of a healthy frozen meal..just to give our weary bones a little rest.   We can become too legalistic and reject a little help from the frozen food section.  I know..I used to be that way…yep..ground all my own flour and everything…

After having more kids and then adding grandkids I’m busier than ever… I have found great relief in letting go of my obsession to have every single meal and food made from scratch ALL the time.

The other thing I’ve learned along my foodie journey is this…frozen food is the next best thing to fresh!  Did you know that?  Trust me..it’s true!

With all that being said…I am happy to partner with ConAgra Foods to promote Healthy Choice and Marie Callender because they serve up some of the most fresh frozen foods!

Here are some great frozen food facts about ConAgra Frozen Foods:

  • Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s meals, give families access to high quality ingredients year-round. These meals are made with simple and fresh ingredients – like crisp vegetables and tender meats.
  • Vegetables are picked at the peak of freshness and most go from farm to freezer within 24 hours.
  • Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt Frozen meals are a great alternative when you don’t have time to cook.
  • Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s provide built-in portion control and are a tasty alternative to meal replacements like bars and shakes. The two brands have more than 80 meals with less than 400 calories.

So how do I incorporate frozen foods into our families diet?  I use frozen fresh vegetables all the time.  Remember..fresh is best..but I don’t always have time…so frozen is the next least processed way to get healthy foods served up to my family.

Occasionally we all get the treat of a healthy meal with Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s meals..but most often it is just one or two of us that gets that special treat at a time…My happy hubby was the recipient of this deeelish Healthy Choice Meal…after a little tug of war with a couple of my kids…so I’ll just have to go out and buy some more!

We also like to keep a couple of frozen meals in our freezer for our VERY ACTIVE athletes..they need a full healthy meal sometimes when it’s not meal time!

ConAgra Foods frozen meals give families access to real ingredients like crunchy, freshly cut vegetables, homemade pasta and ripe fruit year-round. Just like most people blanch veggies before freezing them – ConAgra Foods does too – to help preserve color, texture and keep them fresh!

Give it a try sometime! Marie Callender’s hearty pot pies are filled with tender meat, freshly cut vegetables and Marie’s authentic golden, flaky crust. And Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.
