Compass: The Study Bible For Navigating Your Life – Review

I am honored to partner once again with Shelton Interactive to Review Compass: The Study Bible For Navigating Your Life.  I was not compensated but received the Study Bible as a thank you for giving an honest review.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Sometimes I’m a little overwhelmed with the amount of different Bibles that come out each year.  I have a certain Bible that I use and since it is like my very best friend I wouldn’t think of trading it in for a new one until I absolutely have to. 

So with that being said I also wouldn’t just give it to someone that I know needs a Bible since it is scribbled and marked up in all the amazing places that God has spoken to my heart over the years.  So I like to be up on the different types of Bibles that are out there for gifting purposes.  I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the Compass: The Study Bible For Navigating Your Life was so affordable and casual looking.

I have a little confession to make…Yeeeaaars ago…when I first knew Christ as my Savior…there was just NO WAY that I was going to let anyone see me with a bible.  As a matter of fact it was my husband, who was just a friend at the time, who talked me into getting a bible.  So I wanted to get the least conspicuous I could find!  I think I would have really like the Compass Study Bible.  A simple design and an interesting interpretation. 

The Compass Study Bible is definitely not going to be for everyone.  It is very different from any that I have read. In my humble opinion it is similar to the Living Translation, but VERY different in presentation.  This Bible is called the Voice Translation and has a screenplay format.

As you can see..it is a very unique way to present the Word of God. 

The Compass Study Bible consistently refers to God the Father as the Eternal One and in the New Testament the words of Jesus are not in red letters but clearly shows he is speaking

This Bible does a good job of explaining what is going on in different portions of scripture through narratives, so that the reader can understand the scripture, setting and how it fits into bible times. 

The Compass Study Bible is definitely for the “creative” out there.  The words are beautiful and get you really thinking.  I was surprised that my husband who is really the Bible “critique” in the family, really likes it!  But then he is a creative type…He plays music, so the flow and words are really appealing to him. 

Again I must say that this is not a word for word translation.

My honest opinion. This Bible will definitely appeal to new believers, unbelievers, creative types and those that don’t read their Bibles often and even, I think, teens would enjoy it.

• and one thing I REALLY liked is that it has a 40 day devotional time with Jesus…but then I’m all about devotions!

I believe the heart behind this unique Compass Study Bible is good and the publisher, Thomas Nelson, is looking to reach out to a unique population that may not otherwise look at a Bible.  That could very well have been me for sure!

The Compass: Study Bible for Navigating Your Life is not out yet but will be soon!  Initially, Compass will be sold exclusively through Walmart stores nationwide.  Priced at $19.99, it will be affordable for sure.
