Creative Card Ideas for Your College Bound Kids

I’m in the count down to when my Son leaves for College.  I’m doing pretty well actually, that is until I have to really think about it!

I’m so excited for my Son to be growing up and becoming the man that God created him to be.  One of the fun ways I’ve thought about letting him know I am thinking about him is to have some fun with Cards!  So I thought I would share my creative card ideas for you in case you have college bound kids!

Really I’m so excited for him to be taking this BIG step and going off to College…all by himself.  Having a roommate he doesn’t even know, doing his own laundry, making sure he is eating properly and sleeping well..all on his own!

When I asked him if he was ready to take on this BIG responsibility, he looked at me and smiled and answered with a simple resounding “YES!”.

I knew then that it was time to let my baby go.  To let him be a man.  To make his own way in this world.

That’s what it’s all about right!?  This parenting thing.  It’s not so we can keep our babies home forever. 

There are signs you look for when your kids growing up to make sure that your child is maturing.  All kids are different and mature at different stages, this year however my son proved to be well on his way to being a grown up!  Handling almost all of his affairs for college entry,  getting a job and buying a new car!

I’m going to miss him, even though he won’t be too far away.  I’ll still wonder all the time how he is doing, what he is doing.  If he’s really doing ok.

It’s not easy for the College Bound child, as wonderful as it is to grow up and be on your own, it can be scary.  They ask themselves, “can I make it?” “what if I fail?” “what if I don’t have what it takes to be a grown up?”. 

I want my son to know that I am right here for him forever..umm that’s more for my benefit than his.  LOL

I’m the kind of Mom that tries to find my way into my grown kids lives by doing little things, just here and there.  So when my son goes off to college I’ve devised a way to surprise him and let him know that I am thinking of him and praying for him.  I’m going to hide Hallmark Cards in all of his stuff!  When he is unpacking, he will find them and I know he’ll really like it!

I love that Hallmark Value Cards are super affordable at only 47 cents and 97 cents!  This allowed me to buy a bunch of special cards for this fun little surprise! 

Not only did I put one into his shower caddy, but I’m going to hide one in his laundry basket, bedding, college supplies, etc.  FUN!

I got all of these fun cards at my local Walmart in the card section!  What a bargain! 

Hallmark also has a Card Rewards program which totally Rocks!  You can earn rewards for Hallmark Cards you buy at Walmart,  for every 5 cards you buy, you’ll earn a reward.  YAY!

We will also Be having a going away party for my young man, so I am going to have some fun papers  around the house for guests to give “their best growing up and going to College advice!”  I thought I’d make it available to you too, if you are planning something like this for your College bound students!
