I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Clearasil. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
I have been so excited to share with you about my daughters’ experience with Clearasil! First I’d like to give you a little background on our little/BIG journey with acne in our home…DRAMA!
I personally never worry about acne, especially teen acne. I know that my kids will soon outgrow the acne they have and that their skin will clear up and all will be well and life will not end.
However, they don’t know this!
I really want to share a very personal experience that we have had with teen acne and share with you our:
9 Ways to Zap Teen Zits
Last year one of my daughters ended up with such severe acne that she ended up on a topical antibiotic. Nothing we seemed to do was working. NOTHING. It was so sad and her self confidence really plummeted.
What I learned through that experience was:
- To take severe acne more seriously.
- That acne can actually become an infection and truly needs antibiotics. We chose topical and it worked great, but took time.
- I should have taken action sooner with a cleanser such as Clearasil.
There are certain things you need to do to have nice clear skin:
- Eat lots of fruits and veggies (how many teens do this?)
- Drink tons of water (my teens do this only because they are athletes)
- Wash their faces every single night to remove all traces of makeup (most of the time)
- Keep your hair away from your face (girls like to wear their hair down)
- Keep your hands away from your face (right….)
- Do not scrub your infected acne (teens think they need to scrub them off) Noooo!
- Stay away from too much Sugar, that means white breads too.
- Exfoliate every couple of weeks.
- Wash regularly with a good but gentle face wash like the Clearasil Products mentioned…daily.
No teen is perfect, so doing every single one of these things every single day isn’t probably going to happen. Add the fact that when hormones rage, outbreaks are going to happen. Big and small. That is why I was so excited for my girls to try Clearasil Hydra-Blast Oil – Free Face Wash and Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Gel Wash.
The Hydra Blast Oil – Free Face Wash is Dermatologist tested and can clear up to 85% of acne in 4 weeks. It smells oh so fresh and fruity and my girls loved it as a daily wash. It was a very gentle cleanser that worked really well for my girls throughout the few weeks that they used it.
The Ultra Rapid Action Gel Wash is stronger and will visibly show clearer skin within 12 hours. It is also very pleasant smelling and gentle BUT if you have sensitive skin you need to be careful because it can dry out your skin if used every single day. That is for my daughters anyway.
SOOO how did they incorporate these skin cleansers into their daily routine?
For their skin types they used the Clearasil Hydra-Blast Oil – Free Face Wash daily and the Ultra Rapid Action Gel when they were in their “cycle” since that is when the hormones are raging and acne gets worse.
I have one daughter that washes her face in the sink every night and the other chooses to wash her face usually in the shower right after Basketball practice.
My son used to do his face washing AND tooth brushing in the shower…
What’s the verdict on these Clearasil products? A HUGE THUMBS UP! My girls really enjoy them and we are seeing some nice results. Is every single pimple gone every single day? No, but mostly it is and their skin is very healthy looking and pretty.
Now I have to tell you that in all of my excitement to get this campaign and take pictures and even a video to show my girls washing their faces and all the progress they had made, I came up against a resounding NO. HA! WHAAA! I begged, I pleaded…No way! No videos!
They indulged me for a bit one night, but that was it. So no before and after pics… Just two teen girls taking care of their pretty skin.
Oh and you know what else!? In the last week a ton of their girlfriends and ummm boy “friends” have decided to follow me on Twitter and Facebook! I have no idea why….I’m so popular Now I have to be ever so careful about what I post about them.
If you have teens, boys or girls, pretty guaranteed they are going to love this.
