7 Transforming Reasons You Need to Use Your Bible When Journaling

Hey hey it’s another day of the Bible  Journal Learning Journey: 7 Transforming Reasons You Need to Use Your Bible When Journaling to know Him more. I don’t know if you own a Bible…I know that for the first couple of years that I was a Christian, I did not own one.  I didn’t see why it was important or what I needed one for.  I was suspicious of that book.  Then one day my husband (whom I was dating way back when) suggested I get a Bible.  What?  What for?

I finally bought a Bible (you can read that in this post as part of the journal journey) and soon after that and found out the value of Gods living word in my life…Let’s just say, it was transforming!

These are 7 Transforming Reasons You Need to Use Your Bible When Journaling!

1.  God’s word is alive! YES..as in living!  ~

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12

2.  God’s word is for training and teaching ~

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16

To confirm that our heart is right with Gods word..Holy Spirit or emotions?  I DO believe that God gave us our emotions, they are good, they are to be listened to BUT they can also carry us away during difficult times. If we truly want to align our lives with Gods will, we need to make sure that the things we pray about, the things we THINK God is speaking to our hearts, match up to scripture.

God speaks clearly in his word.

3.  Think about it…this book was written for you and I.

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans 15:4

4.  The Law is simply Gods Word.

“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.  He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers” Psalm 1:2-3

5.  Gods word transforms us if we will live by it, meditate on it, love it. 

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

6.  God word confirms what the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts.  

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13

7.  Gods word shows us which direction to go.

“Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”  Psalm 119:106
