Turkey Sausage and Rice Recipe
I really love using Honeysuckle White Turkey Sausage but if you can’t find it you can substitute it for any all natural Breakfast Sausage like Applegate.
Simple and QUICK back to school meals that we can make for our family in less than 30 min is my jam. So in case you’re looking for turkey sausage dinner ideas, of course I had to share it with you too! This is perfect for the busy school year. Or, perfect for any time of year!
Ingredients:
This Turkey Sausage and Rice Recipe has only 3 ingredients! It’s so super easy and yum!
- Honeysuckle White Turkey Sausage (or Applegate)
- Rice (any kind)
- Chopped Carrots
How to Cook Your Turkey Sausage
Turkey Sausage is very versatile! You can add it to your eggs in the morning or cook it up in different ways for a hearty dinner recipe.
There are lots of ways to cook Turkey Sausage:
- Fry your Turkey Sausage in a skillet (as I’ve done in this recipe)
- Use a Crockpot / Slow Cooker (like I used in this Kielbasa Noodle Soup)
- You can cook it in the oven by adding it to Casseroles for a healthy protein alternative to other meats.
Be sure to check out the full recipe and ingredient list below
Directions:
Fry your Breakfast Sausage in frying pan / Skillet until well done (Always cook turkey to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit) over medium heat so you don’t burn it (you could also microwave).
While you are frying the sausage, cook your rice.
You can cook any kind of rice you like…even minute rice if you like. I always throw my chopped carrots in with the rice along with a tsp. or two of chicken broth so that it cooks all together. No need to make extra work for yourself!
For a quick refresher you always double your water to whatever your rice is. So 3 Cups of rice will need 6 cups of water, because the rice absorbs the water.
Is Turkey Sausage Healthy?
One of the reasons I LOVE the Honeysuckle White Breakfast Sausage is that it’s very lean, it’s a great substitution for pork or beef sausage.
The other reason is because I LOVE that Honeysuckle White turkeys are raised without growth-promoting antibiotics. You can also use Applegate Turkey Sausage as a healthy alternative! So I say YES, Turkey Sausage is healthy!
Once your Turkey Sausage is cooked, Chop and mix with your carrots and rice and you’ve got a deelish quick and easy meal in under 30 min.
I’m excited to show you another recipe that is soo deelish and I’ve been making for years…but you have to wait…it’s a surprise…here’s a little peek:
Stay tuned because you are going to LOVE how I cook this Honeysuckle Turkey Breast and make this deelish Curried Turkey with Leftovers dish to use up the leftovers for more quick and easy back to school meals!
Enjoy!

We actually made spaghetti sauce with turkey tonight and though I was nervous because we had a whole lot of out of town family coming over everyone loved it 🙂
We like to make tacos using ground turkey–yum!
I have never tried their products, but I’m sure that I’d like anything *other than* the sausage. 🙂
I’ve never tried Honeysuckle White, but would love to give it a try. We do as much chicken & turkey as we can. I’m always looking for new products/ways to use different types.
I like to make Ground Turkey Burgers.
I had never heard of this brand before! I am very interested in trying it!
