How To Make Bread Dough

I used to be so intimidated when some of my girlfriends would make Bread.  It somehow seemed so mysterious to me..  I thought everyone knew how to make a simple Bread Dough except me.   I mean how does one make Bread out of a little Water, Flour and Yeast?  Instead of asking them how to make it…Umm pride, plus I knew they were busy, I learned to make it myself.  Now I make bread ALL the time and have over 20 easy homemade bread recipes that anyone can make! I don’t want you to ever feel like that, so because you are my friend, I’m going to show you how to make bread dough!  Guess what? It’s not mysterious at all!!

This is my simple Bread Dough recipe that I use to make lots of different tasty recipes with~

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Cup Warm Water (a little warmer than warm but not hot)
  • 1 Tbsp. Yeast

  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil (you can use other oils)
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt

Directions for How to Make Bread Dough

How to Make Bread Dough

Put water into a large bowl, then add sugar and yeast.

Stir up just a little to mix.

Then let sit for about 5-10 min.  It will get foamy on top.

Add Olive oil, Salt and Flour and stir.

Now flour the surface of your counter and begin to knead.  It’s really just mixing the yeast up more to get throughout your bread dough.  Take dough out of bowl and squish together,  fold over toward you and push away with palm of your hand. Turn about 1/3 of the way and do it again.. continue this for about 5 minutes.

The dough will become less and less sticky and more smooth.  You can then shape it into a nice little ball to let rise.  Set it back into a bowl and cover to let rise for about 45 min. to an hour.  It will be double the size.
