God Looks at the Heart

As I become older,  I become more and more aware of the aging process.  Oh you can relate?  I’m a pretty plain girl,  I don’t wear make-up and I don’t do a whole lot to my hair.  This is simply because I never have much time! LOL  Yet as I get older and I look in the mirror I have to tell myself  “God looks at the heart” because  I’m getting a little saggy in places and getting a few of those age spots on my arms.  My skin is getting more wrinkly too!  Is this TMI? ..LOL

I have never thought much about doing any kind of Cosmetic Surgery or anything like that.  To be perfectly honest I used to be  judgmental of women that wanted to do a little nip and tuck here and there. I don’t know why,  I guess I figured they were really vain.  I would think “God looks at the heart!  Why are they doing that?  It’s ok to age!”  However running across The Victorian Cosmetic Institute and reading some of there very educational articles got me really thinking…and praying about my attitude.

Thinking about the many different types of procedures that sometimes need to be done.  I won’t go into detail about them because I’m not really an expert on these things,  but for example what about women that need Cosmetic help after reconstructive breast surgery after having Cancer.   Or  Women that have Chronic Rosacea or similar skin conditions or  tattoo removal and a million other reasons!

Truth is..that as I age I want to look younger in a world that idolizes youth!   Oh I am not at all obsessed about it,  and I tell myself that “God looks at the heart” of course,  but all of a sudden I realize that my heart has changed it’s opinion and judgment of those that want to do the same thing as I desire in my heart..to look my very best…  Healthy and Vibrant as I age.

I love that God knows us sooo well,  He created us and knows every thought and desire.  He can satisfy our very soul…and yet he knows our frailty as humans and He DOES look at our hearts and DOES NOT judge the one that gets a little help with there outward appearance.  He loves us no matter what!

So I’ve changed my attitude and heart to accept that some Women like to or need to seek  professionals like The Victorian Cosmetic Institute and it’s perfectly ok.

Personally this is not for me,  but God has given me just a glimpse of the heart of the woman that does seek this and He is perfectly at peace and ok with there hearts..so I will be too!

Romans 14:3-4  “The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not,  and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does,  for God has accepted him.  Who are you to judge someone else’s servant?  To his own master he stands or falls.  And he will stand,  for the Lord is able to make him stand.”

I could write a whole book on that verse..OUCH..many lessons 🙂

Tell me,  what do you think of a little Cosmetic help?  Be honest with me 🙂

I am all for cosmetic help. I think there’s such a thing as moderation in it though. I have had 4 kids and put on way too much weight. My husband promises to get my breasts done when I lose all my weight. Ironically, he could care less, but after nursing four kids, I really care. Makes sense to wait until all the weightloss damage is done to fix it. I don’t want perfect, just breasts that resemble my 36 years, not Gigi’s 90 years 😀 God does look on the heart, but as my mama always said, you got to work hard to keep your man-getting him was the easy part. Looking good for my husband is important to me

    1. I think that is very sweet Allyson and so appreciate your honesty about the topic! Believe me I know..I nursed 3 babies from when I was 38 on to 42..it seemed like non stop..lets just say I try to use a very “supportive” bra these days 😉 LOL Thanks for stopping by!! Blessings to you this weekend!

  2. I used to be so horrible about women who had anything done. Now I’m realizing that I might WANT to have something done but won’t (cost, scared I’ll die on the table!), but that doesn’t mean others who do are bad or that God loves them less 🙂 Great post!

    1. It’s amazing how God humbles us isn’t it!? LOL Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope you have a fantastic weekend! Blessings!

  3. Hi Shari, Your question about how i feel about cosmetic surgery got me thinking. I realized i already do “cosmetic surgery” every time i put makeup on, put gel in my hair, even when i change clothes. Its all to help me feel better about myself. I would love to be “free” to never wear make up, do my hair or put clothes on… But lets face it… getting arrested for indecent exposure and scaring little kids with my “old wrinkly” face as 1 boy promptly reminded me, is not how i would like my day to go.LOL. So… Cosmetic surgery is ok as long as it does not be come our God.

    1. LOL you are so funny Cindy! Yes it is sort of a Cosmetic type surgery to use make up isn’t it 🙂 And that is just perfectly ok right?! I love that how you say “as long as it does not become our God” Because I think that’s where the balance gets all messed up and then we have idols 🙁 not good. Thanks for stopping by! Blessings for the weekend..by the way I’m praying for you!!

  4. Such a wonderful post! I have to say that you are a beautiful person. God know your heart and made you perfect and we age perfectly as well. I like to think of myself as a bold robust red wine. I am only going to get BETTER with age 🙂 I truly enjoyed your post, thank you!
