Epilogue: Teach Us to Number Our Days
I have always wondered what my kids would say to some of the silly things that I post about them. They are teens and tweens now and could be more sensitive than when they were younger I suppose. They don’t usually read my blog but they ARE very aware of the little stories I post about them and are ok with it..
But sometimes I’ve wonder..because some of these stories are kind of sappy! LOL
So guess what..I had to pick my Son up from school yesterday for his LAST Physical Therapy Appt! Oh happy day! Anyway we had time to stop by the house for about 15 minutes beforehand. When we got home my son made a beeline for the computer..had to check that facebook you know..and guess what was right there in front of him..yep my story from yesterday! Teach Us to Number Our Days
Oh no! A million things went through my head..I thought “he is going to just die when he sees that cute little picture..” All that lovey dovey stuff I wrote..my deep thoughts about my great love and ambitions for him! Not that he doesn’t already know…but there it was in writing AND on my blog for the whole wide world to see!
I didn’t realize I had left it up when I left the house to get him..so minutes passed by before I even noticed him reading it! Oh no! I did not want to dishonor him. That would break my heart..I’ve done it again..another silly blunder to go down in my parenting history!
I walked over to him and he looked up at me…I sort of stumbled over my words as I said, “Did you just read that?” “Yep!” He said…oh boy..”So what did you think?”
He looked up at me with a big smile and said “you are quite the poet!”
I’m sure he was referring to my prayer I was so surprised by his reaction..so I asked further..”are you ok with that story?..I mean do you approve?” He shook his and said “Ya I think it’s great!”
What!? I couldn’t believe it..what a relief..I was so happy..because to me it was just another confirmation that I am doing what I feel God has called me to do right now..BLOG.
Just wanted to share..Thank you Lord for that little blessing today:)
Do you ever wonder what your kids would think about your stories about them? If you take the plunge and ask them…share it with me!
As a freelance writer for more than 30 years, I’ve written more than a few stories about my kids. They liked them then and they still like them. Go figure.
That is so sweet Sandy! You are a great encouragement to me 🙂 Blessings to you and thanks so much for stopping by!
I usually let my kids read my blogs because they were my first readers when I was starting out. Besides most of the stories were about them and had been told to them before. The only difference is how all of it appeared in blog form. They love the idea that their stories are read by people from other parts of the world and they get to see their pictures in blogfrog. One of my daughters even commented, I hope you could write a post about me. Make that two even.
Kids.
I hope you have the time to read “Laughter Prone Kids (and everything in between).
Blessings.
