Welcome back for this weeks Best DIY Thrift Gifts Ever! Last week I made a Chalkboard Message Tray that was SO simple and SO fun that even my teens wanted to help. I’ve made some of these Thrift Gifts before but for some reason they are all interested this time around! LOL
Today’s Distressed Jar Craft project is such an easy project that I even cooked dinner while making it!
There are just too many creative ideas that roll around my head when I go to the Thrift Store…so I have try to stay super focused! This is what came up this week and it’s not even what I had exactly in mind. It turned out great though and again, one of my teens wanted to know when I bought this and said how cute it was. Are you kidding?! Yippeee!
Ok on with the tutorial…
Distressed Jar Craft
- Spray Paint ~ any color (I used Rust-oleum)
- Rounded jar with lid
- Sand Paper ~ very fine
- Metal Candle Stand
- Old Silver Spoon
- Twine (optional)
These are the 2 items I bought at the Thrift Store. Total $3.00..I think the jar was brand new!
First I spray painted the candle stand and the rounded jar.
Then I let dry. This was quick drying spray paint, so I sprayed and went and cooked dinner.
Once dried, I used very fine sand paper and distressed both the stand and the jar.
Then put it together and you’re done!
Honestly this project probably took a total of an hour. That’s including paint drying time!
I have in mind to use for a bathroom and I’m putting Scented Epsom Salts inside the container.
I’ll show you how to make Scented Epsom Salts (in a couple days), it’s sooo easy! If you don’t want to make your own there are Scented Epsom Salts you can buy now.
Price Breakdown ~
- Candle Stand ~ $1.49
- Rounded Jar ~ $1.49
- Spray Paint ~ I already had but it’s cheap..about $4.50 a can
- Silver Spoon ~ $.50
- Sand Paper ~ I already had, BUT it’s super cheap too!
Have a Blessed Day! z
