I am a member of the Collective Bias Social Fabric community. I have been compensated to share my experience with you by Collective Bias and their client, MasterCard.
It’s the little things in life that are the most important aren’t they? Sometimes we forget to take time for the simple things, to stop and enjoy the flowers or more important… one another. Most of you know my husband and I are older parents, having seven children ranging from 12 on up to 36. Along with 5 beautiful grandchildren. So it’s very important to us to live a long fruitful life, while remembering what is most important..people! That is why I’m so excited to partner with Stand Up to Cancer and MasterCard to find a cure for Cancer!
Life can get so busy that sometimes my husband and I put our relationship on the back burner and then all of a sudden we realize..we’ve been too busy to slow down and enjoy each others company! It’s easy when you’re really busy… to see each other in passing, give a kiss and a hug and then be on your merry way..running kids here and there.
I have been thinking a lot lately about my health, about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I want to leave a legacy for my children and grandchildren, a Godly and healthy one. I want to spend my time on the things that really matter. I’ll be 55 years old next month..I’m close to the age that my Mom was when she died of Cancer. She was 58…
My Mom had many gifts and talents…Gardening, sewing..she was a master seamstress, cook! Yet life was cut short from her with Lung Cancer, Liver Cancer and finally Brain Cancer. It was sad to see her degenerate..this strong willed woman…just having finally gotten sober after many, many years of alcoholism. I thought it might finally be our chance to have a relationship, but it was not to be..she died 1 year later in her sobriety. I was 8 months pregnant with my now 17 year old…she would have loved to meet him and my other 2 that were born after she died.
I think of her often..during these busy times…and when I step back and need to refocus on what is really important in life. I too have had Cancer..and know all too well that life can change in just an instant..a blink of an eye. That is why I am so honored to be partnering with MasterCard’s Dig in and Do Good Campaign and Stand Up to Cancer. Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now
The MasterCard Dig in and Do Good Campaign is a fantastic way to help the fight against Cancer..by pledging to dine out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and pay for a meal of $10 or more – You can use your MasterCard and they will donate a percentage to Stand Up to Cancer! It’s that simple..and who doesn’t go out to breakfast, lunch or dinner now and then!
Well my husband and I made a conscious effort, even with our extreme busyness this weekend to fit in a lovely Chinese Lunch at the Lucky Dragon. To make time for ourselves…to enjoy each others company…
Oh we were really too busy to even fit time in…our daughter had a garage sale for her sports team we were helping with…my husband was also going to our county prison to play in a worship band for the inmates..that’s a 6 hour chunk of the day…then the next day we had committed to helping our community with some projects with our church..
We snuck away anyway…because it was important. We had to remind ourselves that people are more important than projects!
Lunch is always a little less pricey also when eating out at a nice restaurant…but you can often get the same great meal that you will find on the dinner menu! I had Mongolian Beef!
So not only did we take time for ourselves…we were able to use our MasterCard and support the Dig In and Do Good Campaign! Oh and fill our tummies on a very, very busy day!
You can also create your own special meal together while sharing with the special people or colleagues in your circle and lives! Just visit the Dig In and Do Good Website and share with friends!
Just click on the “Book a Table” fill in the blanks and share! Meet up with your friends or family at a fave restaurant and have fun! It’s that simple!
All of the parents at the garage sale for my daughter’s team agreed…this would be a fun way to get together for dinner AND make a difference!
Remember…When you use your MasterCard® card to pay for a meal $10 or more between 7/12 – 9/28/13, MasterCard will make a donation, one precious cent at a time, to Stand Up To Cancer up to $4,000,000.*
