I am beyond excited and honored to be partnering with Partnershub and iParent.TV. I have been compensated to give my honest opinion.
Just the other evening my husband and I were going through the movie channels to find something to watch. We were chuckling in a nervous sort of way. We love futuristic, action type movies and as we were scrolling through, we realized that in a lot of the older futuristic movies that the plots that seemed impossible then…are actually happening now! It’s crazy…
Having older kids (in their 30’s) and having teens at home…I can tell you that they are two totally different generations. My older kids can’t get a radar fix on all these electronics that their younger siblings find a normal everyday part of their lives. Yet..they must because their own children are entering a whole new generation of electronics!
I know that we try very hard to keep our kids away from the electronic world as much as possible and for sure we need to limit it’s use. However we cannot fool ourselves into thinking that the use of all of these devices are from some futuristic movie. Sooner or later we must choose to make sure our kids have the computer savvy skills it will take to make it in the future.
It’s a huge responsibility! I can tell you that first hand… to be up on all the Apps, Social Media and Trends constantly..
The Problem. Most parents don’t have an inside track to tech or social media dangers, let alone how to safeguard their kids against them.
Want to know something interesting?
- 58% of 10-12 year old kids believe they know how to hide their online activities from their parents.
- 46% of them said they would change their online behavior if they knew their parents were paying attention.
As a Mom of 7 I know this is true! It is our job to be on top of what our kids are doing and holding them responsible OR safeguarding their tender hearts.
