The beginning of summer is a great time to reevaluate, prioritize and create a healthy summer routine. The sun is out, which for us Washingtonians means more outdoor activities, fresh air, exercise and fun. Oh and tons of vitamin D which we are deeply deprived of here in the Pacific Northwest!
Speaking of Vitamins, I’m super excited to partner with Centrum® to bring you an awesome giveaway!
Whether you work outside the home, at home, have littles or big kids ~ summer is a refreshing time. It’s a time to start a healthy summer routine. Recently I started an exercise routine that I’m totally pumped about and can’t wait to tell you about it, but that’s for another post.
Are you working too hard? I definitely have been and I need to catch a break while the sun is out and the flowers are blooming. I’m rearranging my days to meet our family needs for the summer and maybe just maybe we will get away for a day or two!
So here’s how I figured out how to break down my schedule for more free time and exercise while still maintaining a productive work schedule.
I try to be in God’s Word no matter what time of year it is so that’s a non-negotiable for me. I do sometimes like to do a special study though or maybe some journaling about something I’m trying to work through or sometimes a series I want to blog about.
Outdoor activities for me are going to beaches, hiking, gardening, exploring… stuff like that. Pretty self-explanatory BUT I sometimes have projects to do outdoors too…
Exercise: Like I said earlier I’m trying out a new workout program and super excited about it. Otherwise I love to go on a walk, which is hard for me to be motivated when it’s rainy out and I have lots of work to do. Sooo….time to get back into a routine and hopefully it won’t just be a summer routine but carry back over into the winter months.
Nutrition: There is so much fresh produce during the summer months. I especially like to take time to go to local farmers markets and shop at this time of year. Then I love to create new recipes! YUM! I also love to grill so I love to grill veggies and fruits. Again though, no matter how great I eat I still need a great multivitamin, so I love the New Centrum® MultiGummies because they are so tasty and have all the needed nutrients I might miss. I also don’t like to get off routine of eating well and taking my vitamins when I’m on vacation, so Centrum® MultiGummies help me to remember as they are sort of a nice little treat!
I’m also making sure that I drink my 8 ~ 10 glasses of water a day.
Family: I’m fortunate enough to work at home so I’m with my family all the time BUT in the summer I like to plan fun things to do with them. Not just “be there” at home but BE THERE with them having fun. Does that make sense?
Work: Well work never goes away for me. Just as I finish one project, another comes along. Blogging is a never ending job. The only way for me to really find freedom from working 24/7 is to have a plan. So I have to figure out how much time I’m going to spend in these area’s ~
- Social Media
- Content Creation
- Brainstorming and Research
- Updating Old Posts
- Editorial Calendar
- Odds and Ends…lots of them! HA!
- VA Services
- I will be cutting back from 5 working days a week to 3 or 4 this summer.
I guess I need to add in my household routine too, but I’m pretty flexible in the summer because there is so much coming and going with my kids.
So that is pretty much my healthy summer routine, I need to next decide just how much time each day I will spend on work, after that…it’s fun time!
