I love this! Kids are amazing at coming up with unique ways to win us over! We’ve run the gamut with pets in our house. Mice, turtles, hamsters, pigeons, cats, dogs, horses, chickens, rat, skinks, gerbils….Now my 9 year old is saving for a blue tongued skink which will require a large tank and heat lamp! Glad he’s making his own money!

All I can say is you are one wonderful Mommy! I would not be brave enough to have mice, skinks, pigeons! Good for you to have him earn his own $$ for this. He is likely to take very good care of his pets I bet! Thanks so much for stopping by!

That is really cute that she got her friend involved. Pets should be a family decision though not a decision made out of manipulation or spur of the moment. Whether you get a dog, hamster, bird, or fish they are a responsibility the family needs to agree to.

I sooo agree Felissa! We have a Cavalier also..and a cat..and a hermit crab..that she hates LOL We have decided NO more pets because we travel for sports on some weekends. My 32 yo daughter watches our dog for us…she loves it because she has 2 Great Danes. They are like their children…but she enjoys having a little dog now and then and the Danes are really good with our little Cavie!
She is a nut! I couldn’t believe her friend wrote this note..it was so funny because this friend is extremely shy. Thanks so much for stopping by!

O my! You have a very clever daughter! I don’t think I would have ever thought to have my friend guilt trip my parents into getting the dog I wanted.

    Shari,

Whenever my kids ask for a pet, I say the same thing every time: “You don’t name dinner! Why fatten up an animal if I ain’t gonna EAT it?” They’re never sure how serious I am about eating a pet, so they just RUN away. Works every time!

LOVE the blog, btw. I’ll be back! 🙂

I live in England and didn’t know hamsters had sleepovers until I read this – perhaps it is just in our country that they don’t. It made me smile anyway.

Oh no Jewel you are quite correct..hamsters DON’T have sleepovers..at least not that I know of LOL! Kids!! I would imagine if my daughter had a hamster, her and her friend probably would have sleepovers with them! 😀 BUT since I won’t give in to having one it’s just not going to happen 😉 I know..mean mom.

Its not bad to the children to be a pet lover but, you should guide your children when they carry their pets because their are some instances that it can cause harm to your children So, parents should be aware of it.
