A few weeks ago I received an awesome book Authored by Mrs. Lorrie Flem to review for Gabby Moms. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with Artists and Authors! This little book is FULL of Character learning through drawing! It is intended for children ages 4 to 10. I had planned on doing it with one of my Grandchildren… BUT when my eleven year old got a hold of this book she looked through it and asked what it was. We flipped through a few pages and read the instructions on each of these pages and to my pleasant surprise she said “Hey I want to do this!”
Lorrie gives some great instruction shares her heart as usual in the introductions. Most of all she encourages each family the way that works best for them! I love that! The themes and subjects that are covered are rich and thorough! It covers:
- 24 character traits and their associated biblical knowledge
- 10 Commandments
- Fruits of the Spirit
- Why we celebrate Valentine’s Day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas
- All 107 points of the Westminster Shorter Catechism
Lorrie has many creative suggestions for using this little gem! I love the grab and go idea. This is a perfect size to fit into your purse when you are on the go! Kids could easily do this while at a Dr’s appt., in Church (if they sit with you) Anywhere! LOVE IT! I will definitely leave this out for when my daughter says “I’m bored” It will fun AND be teaching Character!
Whether you homeschool or public school this book can definitely be used to enhance Character Training!
This is a guaranteed winner! Lorrie also has a book for the Authors in your life. It is for a little bit older child that would enjoy writing as opposed to drawing it is called Authors and Artists (yes that backwards from the book I reviewed 🙂
