I wasn’t really sure how to approach this book when I received it in the mail from my dear friends B&H Publishing. “Hey we’ve got a new children’s book for you to review Shari!” Yay! I love books and especially I love children’s books!
The name caught me a bit off guard at first..”Jonah-The Whale Tells His Side of the Story” Hmmm interesting.
I only give honest reviews and to be perfectly honest I thought..oh know..is this going to be biblical? I mean fish don’t talk! But then I remembered..neither do vegetables! LOL My fears were definitely relieved when I opened up the book and started reading..
My spirit rejoiced when I read the words “One day I was swimming around, eating my usual four thousand pounds of fish for the day, when God spoke to me”…
My thinking and my heart suddenly changed and scriptures like:
Romans 8:19-20 “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it..”
and who can forget how God had a donkey speak in…
Numbers 22:28 “Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?”
Yep.. God is in tune with ALL that He has created..humans, animals, creation..take a minute or two to think about it!
Ok enough analyzing!!
I give Jonah-The Whale Tells His Side of the Story a huge thumbs up!
It was cute, funny, imaginative and eye catching for keeping little’s attention.
It also had a great Parent Connection in the back for:
- Remember – Short little Scripture verse you could memorize
- Read – Reminding us to read the story from our bibles
- Think – Some great questions to get our kids thinking in a biblical way
- Do – An activity
What better lesson to teach you kidlets than..
“I called to the Lord in my distress, and he answered me.” Jonah 2:2
If you are interested in purchasing this cute book..it will be available for release in May of 2013
