Drive it Home – A Funny Look at a Serious Subject!

Thank you to the Allstate Foundation and National Safety Council for sponsoring this post. Check out Drive it Home, a website by and for parents, dedicated to keeping our teen drivers safe.

Recently my husband and I were privileged to go to a fun but serious Seminar with some of my fellow local bloggers from Clever Girls Collective..  The Show was called Drive it Home  – it was a funny look at a serious subject regarding teen driving.

Being a teen is such a fun yet scary time…isn’t growing up that way?!

Teens are ready to take on the world..try new grown up and independent…I know..I have 2 teens and 1 tween still at home.  Yet we all know that maturity level and decision making for each and every individual is different.  When is comes to driving it is no different…

At the Drive it Home Show..put on by the Allstate Foundation and The National Safety  Counsel they did an excellent and VERY entertaining job of letting us get a look into the funny situations we all face as parents,  teaching and encouraging our kids to drive safely and wisely.

Drive it Home

My husband and I learned ALOT from this event…sometimes it seems like there is nothing new under the sun when you’ve already gone through raising 4 other teens to adulthood..but of course there is always something to learn and this show was very educational.

Check out this video and see what some of the risks for Teen Crashes are….I think you’ll be surprised!

Only you know your teen!  You need to know what boundaries you will set as parents.   You can check to see what the Washington State laws are..but ultimately the responsibility lies with the parents of teens.

Although it may seem the easier and softer way to just hand over those car keys.. I encourage you to make sure you’ve spent many hours on the road with your teen and that you know just how they will handle many situations before you do.

We have a 16 year old that is just about ready to get his license..after going to this Seminar…we will be taking more time to train our teen before just handing over the keys.  It’s a HUGE responsibility!

This is totally worth checking out!!
