Last night as we all sat at the dinner table, my 13 year old daughter started in on her usual recap of the days events at school. She is very animated and we have learned that one of the most important things for her, is to let her to express herself. She often has to get up from the table during her stories and act everything out!
The truth is that every one of us really enjoys her stories! She makes the whole day seem so exciting and dramatic (what a surprise for a 13 yo..drama) Even her 15 year old brother looks on in fascination..I’m sure wondering why HIS day doesn’t seem as exciting as hers!
Yesterday, apparently she had a substitute teacher in her Math class…so this is how her story goes..
“You are NOT going to believe what our sub did in Math today!…It was MORTIFYING! Well we were all working quietly and she says “ok it’s too awkwardly quiet in here, you can talk and work together if you want.” …I liked that about her… she was actually a pretty good teacher…except she was old and you know what she did?…”
Of course we are all in suspense to see what this teacher could possibly do that was so MORTIFYING!
“Oh my gosh…right in the middle of class she took off her shoe…she wore those ugly crocs. Can you believe that? Who wears crocs to school? Anyway, she plopped her foot right up on the teachers desk and then got some lotion out of her purse…she held that lotion up real high…and you could hear it sploosh out down onto her hand…she looked at it real close…you know to examine it and then added a little more…THEN she started massaging her foot with ooey gooey lotion all over it! Her feet were all wrinkly too! When she was done she slipped that foot right into that croc. and Oh my gosh it was the most sickening thing I ever saw!”
Needless to say we were all rolling on the floor with laughter..she was so upset by this teachers act of… well…humanness!
FAMILEIS ARE FOR SHARING LAUGHTER WITH![]()
I think the teacher did it on purpose…just to get the goat of those Middle Schoolers. Whatever the reason, it gave us a good laugh ![]()

Ha! I LOVE the middle school stories the best!
Aren’t they too funny! Thanks so much for stopping by Ann!
Blessings!

Oh, that is too funny! Middle schoolers were my favorite to work with… They are so dramatic. I remember their shock when they’d run into me at a restaurant, as if teachers don’t really exist outside of school.
I agree, I’m thinking she did it to get a little reaction from the kids.

Hi Loressa! It’s so funny..I could write a new story every night about her funny stories..glad to see you also have such fun! Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings
I’m so glad you encourage her to express herself. This will carry with her into her older years and even into her marriage. My family didn’t talk much, and we weren’t encouraged to share what’s going on in our lives, and what we were feeling, so even now after 6 years of marriage, I have trouble talking to and expressing myself to my husband.
Hi Liisa! Thanks so much for stopping by! Oh boy does she express herself! LOL!
When I was growing up we were never to express our feelings..I distinctly remember being told the ol saying “children are to be seen and not heard” on many occasions
I’m sorry you are having trouble expressing yourself with your husband. It is hard. Maybe you could try to share something small and work your way up to something more intimate. I’ve also had to work on this area..but now I can be pretty expressive
Blessings to you!
So funny! I love your ability to type teenage girl! I love those dramatic stories, I still think I tell them that way
I love that teacher did it on purpose to gross them out – bless her for being a sub in middle school!! I’m a new follower from the laughs hop, looking forward to reading more teenager-ease.
